Toxocariasis in sibs.
نویسنده
چکیده
Toxocariasis is caused by larva of the nematode Toxocara canis or catis. It has been found in a survey that in Southern England about 20% of dogs and cats are infected by the parasite (Woodruff, Thacker, and Shah, 1964). Man becomes infected by ingesting eggs which develop into larvae in his gastro-intestinal tract and then penetrate through the wall invading various organs in the body, most commonly the liver, lungs, and eyes. But any organ can be involved. The parasite usually persists in the larval stage in man, and can remain alive for a year or longer (Dent, Nichols, Beaver, Carrera, and Staggers, 1956). The lesions formed are of a granulomatous nature and consist of eosinophils, giant cells, and lymphocytes, which typically surround larvae and may lead to necrotic changes. Two cases in sibs are described. It is suggested that the disease is much more common than is generally believed and, though it may run a benign course with full recovery, it seems, judging from the many reports of serious ocular manifestations (Ashton, 1960), that it should be treated as a potentially serious disease.

Serodiagnosis of Toxocara among Infants and Pregnant Women Suspected of Ocular or Visceral Toxocariasis Using Two Types of ELISA Antigens
Background: The diagnosis of toxocariasis heavily depends on immunological tests because the number of parasites is usually few in infected tissues, unless they migrate into an organ such as eye. In general, patients with ocular toxocariasis have serum anti- T canis antibody titres that are significantly lower than those with visceral toxocariasis. Objective: To diagnose the asymptomatic toxoca...

One of the neglected soil and/or food-borne diseases with international public health importance is toxocariasis. Human cases are being increasingly reported from Asian, African, Oceania, European and the American countries. Hence, human toxocariasis (HT) is now considered as a major zoonosis with global and regional importance. In Iran, human and animal toxocariasis is an endemic disease with ...

For ranking and grouping of full-sibs and hybrids of sugar beet obtained from breeding programs, two separate experiments were carried out at the farm of the Agricultural and Natural Resources Research Station of Miandoab in 2017 under saline and normal conditions. For this purpose, 17 full-sibs and 28 hybrids differing in resistance and susceptibility to environmental stresses were investigate...
متن کاملEpidemiology of human toxocariasis in Poland - A review of cases 1978-2009.
Toxocariasis is a helminthozoonosis due to the infection of humans with larvae belonging to the Toxocara genus. Humans become infected as a result of accidental consumption of infected eggs containing third stage larvae (L3) nematodes from Toxocara canis or Toxocara cati species. Toxocariasis was recognized for the first time in the early 1950s, and the first cases of toxocariasis in Poland wer...
متن کاملSmall-Area Estimation of the Probability of Toxocariasis in New York City Based on Sociodemographic Neighborhood Composition
Toxocariasis is increasingly recognized as an important neglected infection of poverty (NIP) in developed countries, and may constitute the most important NIP in the United States (US) given its association with chronic sequelae such as asthma and poor cognitive development. Its potential public health burden notwithstanding, toxocariasis surveillance is minimal throughout the US and so the tru...
